One Sunday morning I shared with my husband that I needed more JOY in my life.
Shortly after we went down to Ashbridge’s Bay in Toronto.
I was planning to go for a jog and a Starbucks.
There was a marathon race happening and I noticed one woman struggling so I cheered her on.
She turned to me and said, ‘I can’t do this! Do you Run? Run with me!’
So I started to run at the 21km mark of a 42.2 km marathon.
Just as we passed the 38km point my new friend wasn’t so friendly, she wanted to quit.
So I started asking her questions to take her mind off running.
After several questions I asked her what her middle name was.
She said, ‘Joy, Becky Joy’
I laughed out loud...she told me that she didn’t pick her middle name
and was slightly offended by my laugh, and then I told her
‘Just a few hours ago I said I needed some JOY in my life and now here she was!’
Becky Joy finished her first marathon in just over 5 hours.
I was a little sore but had 21km of JOY in my life!!
